MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) an open-source emulator that was designed to emulate the hardware of arcade game system software on multiple device platforms. The rationale behind the creation of MAME was to preserve gaming history via saving vintage games in modern file formats from being lost or forgotten.
