MAME (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) an open-source emulator that was designed to emulate the hardware of arcade game system software on multiple device platforms. The rationale behind the creation of MAME was to preserve gaming history via saving vintage games in modern file formats from being lost or forgotten. MAME’s main purpose is to preserve decades of software history. As electronic technology continues to advance, MAME prevents vintage software we all love from being lost or forgotten. The source code to MAME serves as a form of documentation. Being that the software is usable, primarily validates the accuracy of the.
